Jiyein Kyun?
Let me start by saying this isn't a music review.
So don't expect me to give a critic's view of this song.
But it's about an instant connect . Have you felt that with a song ? Maybe it's the lyrics . Or just the music . Sometimes it isnt even about the actual song . It's just that you hear it at a time when it has extreme situational relevance.
So I heard Jiyein Kyun in passing . I liked the way it sounded . I didn't even catch the whole song, just the bit they played in the trailer . Now , I have this habit of using the 'Draft' section of my messages to store the names of songs I need to download . There Jiyein Kyun made its way. And Rested In Peace until I came back from a 3 week vacation . If there's one thing I love the internet for , it's got to be Youtube. Besides Google and Wikipedia . That besides , a few punched keys in the youtube search engine gave a satisfactory hit :
^^Jiyein Kyun :
Film : Dum Maro Dum

Enter . Buffer . Play . Shut your eyes . And just listen .
Maybe if I'd heard the song under different circumstances , it wouldn't have affected me that much . Composition wise,it's a good song , perhaps not a great one . But it touched me .
People have a way of disappearing from my life . Important people . People I've loved truly and honestly . I don't know whom to rely on anymore : who's going to stay around for a long time , if not forever? What happened to "forever and always"?
Ever asked yourself the purpose of life? I have . Almost everyday . Something my brother inspired me to believe : To live each day and to not merely exist , no matter how pointless it seems , how difficult , how treacherous . Because one day , one day , this life is going to be blown off like a candle's flame . And it won't warn you beforehand . And when that day comes , I want to die knowing that I MIGHT have some unfulfilled wishes , but that every experience I'd had till that moment - good , bad , anything - that it was worth it . That I was there in that moment . That I cried , that I laughed . Made mistakes , survived.
You know how it is to love someone so bad that it hurts ? It's ok if it's not reciprocated . Seems bad , but you can live through it . What's worse is when you know you can give your life up for someone but they just don't know it . Or they move on leaving you behind . Suddenly it's like you are walking around without a shadow .
People steal from our lives . They just lose their way from us . Friends , lovers , colleagues , family members . Distance , death .They just steal the memories from you . And you are never the person you were with them with anyone else . Because these are special people . And when they are gone , they take with them a part of you , that part you can never be again with anyone else , no matter how close the other person .
And then when they are gone , you miss them . Perhaps that's where the misery starts . Because it's not just their physical absence that haunts you . And then the memories turn to rust .
Or we hope. Hope to God that there will be a miracle and they'll be back in your life . To fill your days with their warmth and sunshine. But maybe I'm too much of a realist . 'Miracles' is a nice-sounding word that happens to one in a billion . And I am never that 'one'.
So maybe it's a good idea to hold onto your loved ones . Appreciate them , love them like crazy . So that even after they go , you know you tried . But what we often end up doing after we've fallen is that we don't venture out anymore . We hole up and lower our expectations so that we're not hurt again .
That's where I ask : Jiyein Kyun?

Na aaye ho, na aaoge, na phone pe bulaoge
Na shaam ki karaari chai, labon se yoon pilaoge
Na aaye ho, na aaoge, na din dhale sataoge
Na raat ki nashili baat se neendh mein jagaoge
Gaye tum gaye ho kyun, raat baaki hai
Gaye tum gaye ho kyun, saath baaki hai
Gaye tum gaye hum tham gaye har baat baaki hai
Gaye kyun,
toh jiyein kyun
Gaye tum gaye ho kyun, raat baaki hai
Gaye tum gaye ho kyun, saath baaki hai
Gaye tum gaye hum tham gaye har baat baaki hai
Gaye kyun
toh jiyein kyun...
Aankh phir tham gayi, na thaki
Raat phir na bati, na kati
Raat phir chhedti, maarti
Neend bhi lut gayi, cheen gayi
Raat bhi na sahi, na rahi
Raat bhi laazmi, zaalimi
Gaye tum gaye ho kyun, raat baaki hai
Gaye tum gaye ho kyun, saath baaki hai
Gaye tum gaye hum tham gaye har baat baaki hai
Gaye kyun toh jiyein kyun
Gaye kyun toh jiyein kyun
Na aaye ho, na aaoge, na phone pe bulaoge
Na shaam ki karaari chai, labhn se yoon churaoge
